You may be among the first to see Thomas Kinkade’s newest painting, Selfless Service (right), inspired by the “selfless sacrifice of our beloved first responders …the nobility of our firefighters”.  Kinkade has created the first of his Heroes collection as a 10th Anniversary tribute to these  courageous firefighters of 9-11 as well as those firemen who are “ready to engage whatever obstacle threatens.”

Firemen’s Prayer by A.W. “Smokey” Linn

When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage; Give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age.  Help me embrace a little child before it is too late, Or save an older person from the horror of that fate.  Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.  I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, To guard my every neighbor and protect his property.  And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life; Please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.”

Tradition

“On the eve of St. Nick, it’s a family affair,  So this is our moment to savor and share.      There’re gifts to be wrapped and goodies to bake, But we’ll have one special bottle – just to celebrate:  For the patter of little feet and The warmth of good friends, For Mom’s good advice and Dad’s strong hands, For our love and good fortune, And all we’ve been wishing.  To be thankful tonight, that’s our special “Tradition.”
